I'll admit I'm one of the people that has been skeptical about e-readers. I want one, but the cost has been prohibitive and I just don't think that a machine can ever replace the feeling of having an actual printed book in my hand.
Not to mention that as a writer the thought of having my book as data on a machine is not very exciting. I already have that. Part of becoming published for a writer is seeing the genesis of the manuscript into a physical book. Most writers that hope to someday reach publication dream of holding their first printed novel in their hands and feeling waves of satisfaction and joy. I have this dream daily.
Holding an e-reader in my hand with a copy of my novel distributed by a large house publisher, that is still exciting, but I don't dream of it. Then I read this article, and I think it might have single-handedly changed my views about e-readers.
After reading the article, what are your thoughts about e-readers and the future of the publishing industry?
